  • Why did you choose to become a counsellor?

    My first experience with therapy came at a time when I was trying to make sense of a lot: emotionally, relationally, and internally. I didn’t have the language for it back then, but I was seeking a space where I didn’t have to hold everything on my own. Over time, that space became a constant. It wasn’t always easy, but it was something I kept returning to.

    What stood out most to me wasn’t just the insight or growth, but the process itself-the quiet, patient unfolding of things. Patience didn’t come naturally to me, but therapy taught me how to stay with discomfort long enough for it to soften. That commitment to keep showing up changed me.

    Somewhere along the way, I realised that becoming a therapist felt like the most genuine way to honour both my need for meaningful connection and my deep belief in people’s capacity to grow. It felt like a natural extension of the work I had already been doing within myself.

  • What excites you about your work as a counsellor?

    The relationships. The small shifts. The quiet courage it takes to be vulnerable. What excites me is witnessing how people begin to understand themselves differently-with more compassion, more clarity, more honesty.

    It’s never a one-size-fits-all process, and I love that. Therapy looks different for everyone, and I enjoy shaping the space collaboratively so that it feels safe, intuitive, and supportive of where someone is at. I’ve seen how powerful it can be to have just one space in your life where you don’t have to perform or explain. A space where you get to be messy, stuck, hopeful, and everything in between.

    Being able to offer that to someone else now feels like a full circle moment, and it’s something I don’t take for granted.

  • What do you hope for your clients to experience after their first session with you?

    I hope clients leave our first session feeling a little more curious - about themselves, about the process, about what could unfold. My intention in that first meeting is to really understand the world they come from. Almost like painting with words, I try to grasp their story as they choose to share it. There’s no rush or pressure - we go at their pace.

    Clients have often reflected that they appreciated being met with curiosity, just as much as they brought their own. That mutual exploration becomes a foundation for trust. More than anything, I want them to feel like they were listened to with care, and that this can be a space where they don’t have to hold everything alone.

  • What would you wish to tell a client who is thinking about seeking counselling?

    If you’re considering counselling, it’s a sign you’re ready to explore and understand yourself more deeply, and that’s a meaningful step. Therapy isn’t about having all the answers or being fixed. It’s a safe space to reflect on your experiences, emotions, and relationships, whether you’re in crisis or just seeking clarity.

  • Describe the relationship that you would wish to build with your client in counselling.

    I aim to create a space where clients feel truly heard and understood, with a focus on trust and empathy. I believe in making the process relatable and comfortable, so I don’t stick to a stoic approach - humor helps break the ice when needed. My goal is to work together with clients to understand their story and needs, going at their pace. We co-create a plan that feels empowering, and I respect their boundaries while allowing them to guide the direction of our work.

  • In your counselling work so far, what has been your greatest learning from your clients?

    The greatest lesson I’ve learned so far from my clients is their incredible resilience and capacity for forgiveness. It’s inspiring to witness their commitment to working on themselves, even when the process is challenging. Their strength in facing difficult emotions and situations, while still pushing forward, continually reminds me of the power of humanness.

  • What are some of your strengths as a counsellor that you value and appreciate?

    I believe one of my strengths as a counsellor is my ability to communicate in a way that makes clients feel heard and understood. I also find that humor and relatability help create a more comfortable atmosphere, allowing clients to feel at ease during our sessions. Many clients have mentioned that they find it easy to talk to me, which I take as a sign that I’ve been able to create a supportive and open space for them.

  • What are some of the things you like to do in your free time?

    In my free time, I enjoy watching TV, particularly horror thrillers. I also value socializing with friends and loved ones, it helps me recharge and stay connected with others.

  • What is the therapeutic approach you use? How would you describe it to someone who wants to consult you for therapy?

    In my work, I use an eclectic approach to therapy, which means I draw from different methods and techniques depending on what works best for each client. I focus on understanding your unique experiences and challenges, and together we’ll explore how to navigate them. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly express yourself. My approach combines elements of talk therapy, helping you make sense of your thoughts and emotions, with practical strategies to address specific concerns like anxiety or relationship issues.

  • How do you make your therapeutic practice a safe and affirmative space for queer and trans* folx?

    I’m continuously educating myself on queer-affirmative practices and staying informed about the unique challenges these communities face. I prioritize ongoing learning through attending relevant courses, reading, and engaging in queer spaces to better understand diverse experiences. Additionally, I believe in the importance of unlearning biases and remain committed to this process through personal therapy and peer supervision, where I can reflect on my own growth and address any blind spots. This ongoing process helps me stay accountable to providing an inclusive and affirming space for my clients.
